Learning to See the Days More Clearly

Today I completed my third cancer treatment.

Cancer has a strange way of changing your relationship with time.

Before cancer, it was easy to think in months and years—to worry about what might happen next, to look back at what had already happened, and to assume there would always be another day to say what needed to be said or do what needed to be done.

Now I think more about this day.

This morning. A cup of coffee. A walk outside. A conversation with someone I love. The simple feeling of being alive and knowing that I am still here.

Three treatments down.

I don't know everything the road ahead will bring. None of us really does. Maybe that is one of the things cancer has taught me most clearly.

Life was always uncertain. Cancer simply removed the illusion that it wasn't.

And strangely, within that realization, I have found a sense of peace, clarity, and gratitude that I had never known before.

Cancer may have changed my days, but it has also taught me to see them more clearly.

I am paying closer attention now—to the people I love, to the ordinary moments that once passed unnoticed, and to the simple privilege of another day.

Today was one of those days.

And it was a very good day.
