Gangnam Style

A little trip down memory lane. This was the exit at Gangnam subway station that I used when I went to teach at ELS from 1990 to 1992.

The last time I visited this area was back in 2011 or 2012. It was my first trip back since 1997.

So much had changed. Back in 1990, the tallest building was the building where the Korean Exchange Bank was located, which was next to The New York Bakery. There were still many empty lots.

I loved the inside of the subway station with all the shops and restaurants. It was like a small city underground.

can still recall quite vividly stopping at Paris Croissant (now called Paris Baguette) for a fried egg, toast, and coffee in the morning before I went to work. Sitting around a small counter, elbow to elbow with female officer workers.

Some memories are worth cherishing.
